Description
2 Sided Victorian Mourning Hair 9C Gold (unmarked) Brooch. Brown, Blonde Prince of Wales Hair Weave on Back with Over Extended Brooch Over it & 1800 C Clasp 249.90. Black Onyx w/ Gold Starburst & Seed Pearl on front, OOAK. Clasp is tight enough so you could slip a chain under it & wear perpendicular. I added gold plated pendant converter at no extra charge.
This brooch is all original, more than 100 years old! In excellent condition. These 2 sides are your secret. Only those you show the woven hair to will know its there.
The 2 sided Brooch Measures 1 1/8″ x 5/8″ wide x 3/8″ deep.
Victorians took their mourning very seriously. These weave & hair works of art were often sent out to professionals to make. Which I would assume is the case here with the difficult Prince of Wales Curls weave, Height of popularity in 1861. .
